Pantanal Sur

The south of the Pantanal is located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Numerous rivers such as the Río Miranda, the Negro or the Taquari often overflow their banks, especially in the rainy season, forming a swampy wetland. In addition to countless bird species, this is also home to large anteaters, nandus, swamp deer and jaguars. There are also huge farms here, such as the Facenda San Francisco, which mainly practise extensive livestock farming and rice cultivation, but also offer safaris for tourists.
